Ebaco is managed by a father/son team.
Mr. Ernst Baur is the founder of the company. He set up the company with limited savings in 1973, and has seen the company prosper over the last 30 years. Mr. Baur is German, and grew up in the beautiful Bavarian countryside. As a young boy, he always dreamed of traveling and doing business in exotic places.
After he graduated from college, he decided to realize those dreams by moving to Bremen and joining Melchers, a large German trading company, as a trainee. After a couple of years in Bremen, he moved to a place that few people had heard of at that time, the country of Kuwait. Thus began his life long work and passion in the Middle East. Over the next 30 years, Mr. Baur molded Ebaco into one of the largest trading companies in the world for flooring products. He is today a recognized expert in the flooring field. Mr. Baur speaks fluent German, Arabic and English and passable Dutch. He serves as Chairman of the board and manages the entire floor covering division of the company.
Mr. Chris Baur is the son of Mr. Ernst Baur. He has run Ebaco Far East for the last 5 years. Prior to managing Ebaco Far East, he worked in Bank of America for 3 years in the structured and corporate credit department and also worked as a summer associate at McKinsey and Co in London. He obtained his MBA degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and has a bachelor degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He graduated magna cum laude. He is the CEO of Ebaco Far East and manages the non-flooring divisions of the company.
The rest of the Ebaco team is made up of qualified personnel who either have strong industry and technical expertise in their product areas and have been with the company for over 5 years, or who have MBAs from good schools and have the capability to manage more complex customers requests.
